Halloween 2020 is certainly going to be different, whether it’s something you participate in or not. This year I think we all deserve an excuse to do something fun, get creative and put a smile on our faces.

This year at Aloe Vera Dental Studio, we put our heads together to think of any tips, ideas and plans that we could share with you.

1. Autumnal/Halloween Décor

Whether its an autumnal wreath, a pumpkin display, or garlands, choose something that will make you smile, and perhaps even for others to enjoy.

We loved the ideas that Taryn Whitetaker shared on her blog post – Everything looks so classy and stylish!

Dannielle (Nurse): This year I decorated my little boys playhouse in the garden. It makes me so happy every time I look out my back door and my little boy loves it too!

2. Long Autumnal Walks

Its no secret that moving our bodies is great for both our physical and mental wellbeing.

Perhaps pick a dry day, or a day that’s not a complete washout and go for a long scenic walk. Essex has so much to offer in that respect, you really don’t have to travel far.

The UK is at its most beautiful in Autumn, with its burnt orange, red and golden leaves, and stunning landscapes, especially if its a bright, dry day.

3. Pull out the stops for a Movie Night

There are some amazing Essex/London based companies that can actually come and set up a full experience in your home, however this isn’t completely neccessary.

Pop up some fairy lights, light some candles, plan out your snacks and a great classic movie (perhaps a Halloween scary one?) and make an evening of it.

Perhaps if permitted, and within restrictions, invite a friend or family member over?

4. Seasonal Cooking/baking

Following on from the movie night, last year we shared a beautiful Halloween Graze board idea (Linked below) which would be perfect for mid-movie snacking! https://www.aloeveradental.co.uk/halloween-hacks/

Making a beautiful, warming autumnal soup or stew can also bring you so much joy. A great way to sneak in a ton of veggies and support your immune system too!

5. Halloween/ Autumn crafts

You don’t even need to have a little one to get involved in this.

You also don’t need to spend lots of money! On your next walk, pick up some conkers, some pretty dried leaves or sticks and get creative. Perhaps paint a pumpkin instead of carving it, and let the kids get messy.

Natalie (Dental Nurse): We’ve been collecting conkers on our walks and filling up clear vases. Not only are they a simple way to add autumnal decor, myth has it, conkers keep the spiders out!

6. Mini Halloween Party

Whilst sticking to current restrictions due to Covid-19, whether that ends up being just your little support bubble, organise a mini Halloween Party.

Trick-or-treating with the kids may have been cancelled this year but the fun doesn’t have to be. Dress up, get creative with the buffet and décor, organise some fun games and pop on the music!

Whatever you choose to do this Halloween, we hope it puts a smile on your face and that you are able to make some lovely memories regardless.
