Our dental nurse Dannielle shares her tips for preparing to go out and about with Invisalign
Invisalign is and orthodontic system using clear, removable aligners. If you would like find out more about this treatment, head over to our Invisalign Page; https://www.aloeveradental.co.uk/invisalign-braces/
There are no restrictions on what you can or can’t eat. However you do have to remove the aligners every time you eat or drink anything (other than water).
This requires a little preparation on the wearers behalf. Dannielle will be sharing her full experience with Invisalign here on our Blog page.
1. Travel bag
Get yourself a little travel pouch/vanity case/make up bag (you get the idea!)
Realistically, something small that can be popped into your bag or glove box and taken everywhere with you.
2. Toothbrush
Into your travel pouch, pop in a toothbrush.
After you have eaten, you will need to brush and floss your teeth before you put your Invisalign trays back in.
A bamboo toothbrush could be a great shout, as they are more eco friendly. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bamboo-Toothbrush-Bristles-Biodegradable-Handle/dp/B0862B2SNW/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?adgrpid=52627321185&dchild=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwzOqKBhAWEiwArQGwaCt6hlNU0nmKFUPQ_IorYUP4sA3g5TmNW1cxlPECMd4eM0pWcDOU5hoCi_8QAvD_BwE&hvadid=259038538467&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=1007008&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=8462181009520470011&hvtargid=kwd-296635440713&hydadcr=28152_1821060&keywords=bamboo+toothbrush&qid=1633339429&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyR0U3WEYwUUdHVk9EJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNzI2NTU1NjRER05EMUhSU0NSJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTAzODQ4ODExRDhQU0lKUU9BRTkmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGYmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
3. Toothpaste
If you ask nicely, I’m sure your dentist would be more than happy to provide you with some mini size toothpaste samples on each of your Invisalign check -up appointments.
They are much more convenient to carry around with you.
4. Floss
As previously mentioned, you are advised to floss after every meal before putting your invisalign trays back in. Therefore, carry your favourite floss (or alternative interdental cleaning method) to make sure you have it to hand.
My personal favourite is the OralB Satin Floss; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Oral-B-Satin-Dental-Floss-Flavour/dp/B003KUN7KC/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=oral+b+satin+floss&qid=1633339854&sr=8-5
5. Mouthwash
I’ve found that carrying a miniature bottle of mouthwash is super handy for those occasions where I am unable to brush properly.
6. Pain Killers
For those days where I am changing on to the next set of Invisalign trays, my teeth can feel a little achy. For that reason, I prefer to take a couple of Paracetamol to make the whole experience more comfortable.
